Shaped Barcode Generator
Give your barcode the outline of a coffee cup, a bottle, a heart or your own drawing. The bottom band stays untouched, so the code still scans.
Good to know
- To sell in shops, your EAN or UPC number must be issued by GS1 (through the GS1 member organisation in your country). This tool draws the barcode, it does not issue numbers.
- For internal use, events, merch or artwork, any valid number will do.
- Watch out for stray reads: a scanner can mistakenly read the cut-out bars of the shape. For retail, prefer the “Sitting on top” style or a tall scan band, and always test with several scanners (till, handheld, smartphone). The tool warns you when a stray code can be detected.
- Always print and scan a sample before a full run: ink, material and the curve of a pack all affect scanning.
- Want to send people to a website or a menu? Use our QR code generator instead.
About this tool
This generator creates EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, ITF-14, Code 128 and Code 39 barcodes whose bars rise into a shape: coffee cup, wine glass, burger, T-shirt, cat, heart, rocket and more than 80 other original outlines, grouped by theme. The check digit is calculated and verified for you, and the scan band at the bottom stays intact, quiet zones included, so the code still works at the till.
You can upload your own shape (SVG, PNG or JPG), set the scan band height, the size and position of the shape, pick safe colours and check scannability: the tool decodes the image it produces. Export a vector SVG, a 300 dpi PNG at the exact size in millimetres, or a PDF sheet from a list. Ideal for packaging, labels, menus, loyalty cards, merch, temporary tattoos and artwork.
